The aeronautical equipment manufacturer Daher's plant in Saint-Julien-de-Chédon, with 304 permanent employees, will cease to exist by 2022, a cataclysm for a rural town of 773 inhabitants.

Like every noon, Stéphanie (who did not wish to give her name) leaves the Carrefour Market with a pasta salad and a bottle of water.Since this summer, a black sticker "No to the closure of Saint-Julien" covers the Daher logo sewn on his fleece jacket.

The 50-year-old, hired in 2000, was the first woman in her factory to do the three-eights.“I was cutting fabrics, Plexiglas and then carbon fiber and I was making a very good living."But a shoulder injury led her to resume traditional working hours.A hard blow when she had just bought a house:" My salary fell, I came close to over-indebtedness.I had to be careful of everything."After twenty years of service, Stéphanie earns 1,600 euros net, not counting the thirteenth month." When Saint-Julien will close, because you shouldn't dream, it will hurt a lot.I haven't finished paying my house , my parents are elderly… Impossible to move."

By announcing on June 25 that it wanted to restructure its production sites to fight against industrial overcapacity, the aeronautical equipment manufacturer Daher recorded its departure from Saint-Julien-de-Chédon (Loir-et-Cher), within two years.

Engine parts for the A350, fairings for Airbus Helicopters and pieces of Gulfstream private jets are produced in “Saint-Jul”.All in composite materials.“And we get rid of it in the process.'a strategic design office, where our prototypes are born, where workers fearlessly climb up to submit ideas, explains a manager who, like many of his worried colleagues, prefers anonymity.Daher promises to duplicate it in Nantes But it took us fifteen years to create such an ecosystem! By wanting to save money, they take a big risk."
